A lot of us, including myself, have a thing for street photography in black and white. But I also try to force myself to do more street photos in colors – especially for night shots where colors really come to play. All of my photos are shot with the Fuji x100f
My three favorite cameras for street photography in colors are:
- My new favorite: The Fuji X-T3
- The incredible Fujifilm x100f.
- And the small pocketable Ricoh GR II.
All of these cameras pack a lot of punch, are pretty affordable and lightweight. All of my color street photography is done using these two cameras.
Video of me doing color street photography
This was my favorite street photos in colors and I want to do more of this – Especially because I live in colorful Mexico. When I do portrait photography, I usually use flash, regardless of it being in color or black & white portraits.
I’m not sure I will ever stick to street photography in color or in black and white. To me, I think both serve their purpose depending on the situation you are photographing and I think I will continue doing both types of street photos.
Street Photography: Black & White Vs. Color
I think I tend to do more black and white, when I do portraits or if I’m playing with light. And I do street photography in color when I can show contrast, juxtaposition or play with the colors in a way.
Are you looking for cameras?
My two favorite cameras for street photos in colors are the Fuji x100f. It has amazing jpg’s and my favorite editing software for Fuji is Capture one.
My secondary camera for street photography is the Ricoh GR II Digital. It’s a perfect camera for street photography, whether you shoot in color or black and white.
Update: Today I actually shoot with the beautiful mirrorless camera X-T3 from Fuji.
I made a guide on how to buy cameras online. And wrote a lot about cameras for press photography and travel photography here.
