Award-Winning Mexico City Photographer

In 2017, I found myself wandering the streets of Mexico City, eyes wide open taking pictures with my phone and being hypnotized by this beautiful and chaotic city.

Shortly thereafter, I decided to buy my very first camera and that’s how my photo career began in Mexico City.

Mexico photography projects and commissions

It was in Mexico City I built my photography portfolio, which means it’s a city I keep coming back to as it’s the most common city where I’m hired as a photographer.

Coca Cola project in CDMX

Coca-Cola hired me as a local photographer to document the rich taco culture of Mexico and its authentic connection to its brand.

The project focused on capturing the vibrant traditions and shared moments that make tacos a cultural staple, highlighting how Coca-Cola naturally integrates into these experiences.

FAQ

Are you still traveling to Mexico?
Yes! While I was born in Denmark, I keep coming back and always will. It’s where I built my photography portfolio and where I lived for 4 years. Mexico, and Mexico City especially, will always have a place in my heart.

I’m going to Mexico City as a photographer - do you have any tips?

Yes, plenty. Watch this:

Can I hire you as a photographer in Mexico?
Of course. But since I don’t live in Mexico as of now, it does require that the photo project is of a meaningful size due to travel expenses and all that. That said, I’ve traveled multiple times for different projects already, like for this Burger King shoot.

I’d like to document The Day of the Dead in Mexico as a photographer - any advice?

It’s a magical thing to experience and I’ve been capturing images of this event four consecutive years in a row. For tips, please see my post on The Day of the Dead. I documented this spectacular day as a videographer on multiple occasions.

Is it dangerous to walk around with my camera in Mexico City?
I’ve been asked this so many times. And it’s like any other big city. So be smart and know where you’re going. I’m an English-speaking photographer who understands and speaks a bit of Spanish - this is obviously an advantage in knowing the language when you walk around with your camera in a new country.

mexico city street photography

My first photograph.

I took this photograph in Xochimilco, Mexico City with my phone and it was at that moment I thought to myself:

“Maybe I should give photography a shot”.

Mexico City Street Photography

During my four years in Mexico, there was no one who spent as much time as I, walking Mexico City thin, taking street portraits of strangers I met, and doing street photography.
