Denmark-based photographer, Frederik Trovatten

I’m Frederik Trovatten, a Danish photographer based in Copenhagen, specializing in commercial black-and-white and documentary photography. My portfolio includes brands such as Facebook, my Burger King campaign, and my most recent photography project for Coca Cola. My work has won several awards at Cannes Lions, featured in NatGeo and AdAge.

My work is rooted in capturing real moments—unposed, authentic, and full of life. From street photography to large-scale campaigns, I approach every project with a focus on storytelling.

Frederik Trovatten, Danish photographer from Denmark

Despite being Danish, I often travel for photography projects

I’ve worked on campaigns across Denmark and internationally, including projects in Sweden and Norway. Whether it’s creating authentic portraits for global brands or documenting everyday life in black and white, my style reflects a blend of Danish simplicity and street-inspired realism.

Commercial photography projects

Over the years, I’ve collaborated with international brands to bring a raw, human touch to their campaigns.

  • Coca-Cola Campaign
Working with a Swedish agency, I contributed to a Coca-Cola campaign that ran in Norway and Sweden. The project blended documentary-style photography with a creative vision that aligned with the brand’s iconic identity. See the project

  • Burger King – Mexico City
This project was a mix of street photography and street casting, resulting in candid black-and-white photography of people enjoying Burger King meals. The campaign won two Cannes Lions and was exhibited at a museum, highlighting the power of real, unfiltered moments in brand storytelling. See the project for Burger King.

  • Danish Commercial Projects
In Denmark, I’ve worked on projects spending from portraiture and commercial street photography style campaigns.

My Approach

As a Danish commercial photographer, I’m drawn to simplicity and honesty in photography. My process often starts with street photography principles: observing, waiting, and capturing the moment when the story reveals itself. Whether working on a campaign, portraits, or personal projects, I aim to keep the experience natural and collaborative.

  • Black-and-White Photography: Much of my work is in black and white, where light, shadow, and emotion take center stage. It’s a style that strips away the unnecessary and focuses on what matters most.

  • Documentary Style: For both commercial and editorial projects, I use a documentary approach to create images that feel genuine and timeless.

  • Street Photography Inspiration: Street photography has taught me to look for the extraordinary in the everyday. I bring this perspective into my campaigns, making even branded work feel authentic and alive.

Denmark and Beyond

While based in Copenhagen, I’ve worked on projects throughout Denmark and across the Nordic region, including Sweden and Norway. My experience in different countries gives me a broad understanding of cultural nuances, which I bring to every project. For clients looking to hire a photographer in Denmark, I offer a unique style that blends local sensibilities with international experience.

Let’s Work Together

If you’re looking for a photographer in Denmark—or for a campaign that stretches into Sweden or Norway—I’d love to hear about your project. Whether you need authentic portraits, a documentary-style campaign, or street-inspired editorial work, I can help bring your vision to life.
